Band Camp Information
Marching Band Camp is held at Hightstown High School. The duration of the camp is two week in August (Please see the calendar for rehearsal dates). During the August camp, we will learn all the music and drill for the competitive season, as well as learning/reviewing basic marching fundamentals. Please remember to dress comfortably for the heat:
Band Camp
It is MANDATORY for all members of the band to attend camp. The band learns 100% of the drill and work for the fall field show at band camp.
A brief overview of a typical day at camp is as follows (The daily schedules are subject to change)
12:00-1:00 Music Rehearsal
1:00-1:45 Basics
2:00-5:00 Drill
5:00-5:45 Dinner
6:00-7:30 Drill
7:30-9:00 Music
We follow an intense schedule; however, it pays off to work so hard during this week. For all drill rehearsals, we ask that you wear any type of white T-shirt. This will make teaching and cleaning drill much easier with everyone wearing the same color.
Band Camp Checklist
• Eat Breakfast Every Morning!
• Instrument
• Water
• Sneakers – No Flip Flops!
• Rain Gear
• Drill
• Music
• Pencil
• Sunblock/Sunglasses/Hat

Dinner
The HHS Music Boosters provide dinner each night at band camp. The $65 will go towards paying for meals each day of the week.
Behavior
Behavior at band camp is the same as any rehearsal, field etiquette is in effect while on the field, and music rehearsals are conducted in standard rehearsal fashion. There should be no problems at all from a discipline perspective while at band camp.
Any discipline problems while at band camp are logged and will be dealt with by Mr. Halat. Serious offenses will be brought to a school administrator.
Everyone at band camp is expected to be at all functions, rehearsals, and meals. All communication takes place at meals, which you must be at. The program we run at camp requires a great deal of energy, which requires everyone to eat and drink at all meals. If you notice someone not eating, you are obligated to tell one of the chaperones or the band director. If you have a special diet, you must inform the band director in advance so that arrangements may be made.
